Rivendell, a woodland Bed and Breakfast surrounded by tall evergreens, is a perfect place to visit in the summer: a little castle-y, a little bit hobbit-y, and completely Kingdom.  We are a bit off the beaten path yet just minutes from the events and activities of the day.  Open year-round, guests are able to enjoy the unique pleasures of every season in Vermont.

In literature, Rivendell is a castle where inhabitants of the land meet to discuss and plan great quests and anticipate adventures, accompanied by great feasting, story-telling, and laughter.  After setting out, they pursue their activities, and then return to the castle, where they relate their various deeds and victories, accompanied by great feasting and laughter.  In Vermont, it is guests that come to Rivendell  to plan quests and adventures in the Kingdom, and return for great feasting, story-telling, and laughter.

Rivendell has two guest rooms, Woodsprite and Wizard, both with private baths.  Woodsprite has an old-fashioned claw foot tub for a deep hot-water soak before dinner.  Wizard has a stone-dressed shower in its bathroom.  Both rooms have full size beds, and a comfortable area to relax and read  The restful sound of mourning doves cooing their evening songs and the soft chirps of the peepers in the pond will lull you to sleep, and the sweet trill of the tiny birds in the morning will tug you awake.

We offer a generous Country Breakfast using the freshest local products available to make French toast, omelettes, Sweet Potato Pancakes, organic yogurt parfaits, and family recipe biscuits.  With summertime berries, the local Farmer's Markets, and our own fresh herbs, the variety is endless.

Dinner is available on request.  You may choose the Rivendell Country Supper of three courses, or the Rivendell Dinner for Two with five.  We don't have a set menu, but we create your meal according to your tastes and our suggestions,  as casual or as elegant as you enjoy.  As with the Country Breakfast, we use the freshest local products available to make interesting and delicious food.    We will mix cocktails with the spirits you bring, as well as pour your own wine with dinner. We can accommodate special dietary considerations if you let us know when you make your reservation.
