Rivendell

Rivendell, a woodland Bed and Breakfast surrounded by tall evergreens, is the perfect place to stay during your visit to the Northeast Kingdom: a little bit hobbit-y, a little bit castle-y, completely Kingdom. A bit off the beaten path, we are still just minutes from the events and activities of the season. With over 30 years of hospitality experience, we receive all of our guests with great pleasure to be able to host a visit to Vermont.

Awaken in your cozy room and come downstairs for a delicious and generous country breakfast. We offer family recipe pancakes, locally made sausage and maple syrup, and fresh eggs from just down the road. House specialties include an Apple-Cheddar breakfast bake, Cinnamon and Cream French toast, and homemade granola, among other favorites. Fresh fruit, pastries, yogurt, fresh whole grain breads, Vermont milk and other Vermont specialty foods are served beautifully to start your day.

When you return to Rivendell, enticing dinner aromas will greet you. Relax with a glass of your favorite wine and some tasty snacks and tell us all about your day as we prepare a wonderful meal for you. After dinner, maybe a movie in the living room with dessert and coffee, or a quiet board game or puzzle...or more great conversation about your adventures of the day? Many of our guests like to take a walk after dinner-the nighttime skies are incredible!

Our two guest rooms are inviting and peaceful, and have been arranged with each guest's comfort in mind. The Woodsprite room is light and restful: full-sized bed for late-night snuggling, an old-fashioned claw foot bathtub for a hot deep-water soak before dinner, and the delightful accent of sunflowers to cheer you. The Wizard room is rich with deep color and wood, a stone-lined bath, and regal touches. The far-away chirping of peepers and the mourning doves' evensongs will soothe and relax you into the best night's sleep you've had in a long time...

Dinner is available upon request and you can dine as simply or as sumptuously as you would like. We always cook with the freshest, finest ingredients available, in a never-ending style of traditions. As the seasons change, so do the whims of our palates, and we find ourselves looking forward to crisp, interesting salads and fresh fish and seafood grilled to perfection outdoors on the deck. Our local roadside stands call us to stop and select the best and freshest of the season to transform into a dish for you to enjoy. We craft your dinner according to our suggestions and your preferences, so each one is unique and tantalizing. Choose two fine dining meals: the Rivendell Country Supper of three courses, or the Rivendell Dinner for Two of five courses. We will mix cocktails with the spirits you bring, and pour your own wine with dinner. We can accommodate special dietary considerations according to your instructions if you inform us when you make your reservations. Please allow us 48 hours notice if you wish to have dinner.
